Distance learning options through the NRL
The NRL is hosting Zoom webinars of up to 500 participants for lecture and Q&A sessions. In lieu of in-person visits due to current social distancing restrictions, and to help support educators facilitating distance learning, school groups are encouraged to contact us to set up a lecture and Q&A session given by a reactor operator.
Students will be asked to watch our video tour and submit questions in advance (the lecture will incorporate their questions to the extent possible). Additional questions can be submitted live through Zoom’s Q&A feature and will be answered as the presentation goes along.
The NRL is rolling out two remote lab activities for additional distance learning options. The first deals with radiation detection and characteristics of radioactive sources, while the second investigates the neutron shielding effectiveness of various materials.
