Edward S. Lau is the Assistant Director of Reactor Operations at the MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory (NRL) since 2011. Before that he was the Reactor Superintendent for 13 years, from 1998 to 2011. He joined the NRL in 1985 as an MIT student, obtained his operating license and participated in the capacity of senior Reactor Supervisor and Reactor Engineer. He obtained a Nuclear Engineer degree in 1991 and an MS degree in Nuclear Engineering in 1988, both from MIT, and a Physics B.Sc. degree from the University of Birmingham, U.K., in 1983. Mr. Lau is an active member of MIT's EHS Working Committee. He also serves as a technical advisor on research reactor aging management and modernization for the International Atomic Energy Agency.
