David Moncton named co-recipient of the 2013 Advanced Photon Source Arthur H. Compton Award

NRL's director, David Moncton, is a co-recipient of the 2013 Advanced Photon Source Arthur H. Compton Award for his contribution of the development of the "top-up" mode at the Advanced Photon Source which substantially improved both the intensity and the quality of the x-ray beam for experiments. The "top-up" mode is now used in most third-generation light sources worldwide and it is integral to the design of new sources, such as the Diamond Light Source and the National Synchrotron radiation.
